Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 28 May 2026
These Terms govern your use of the Bank Statement Extractor SA service ("the Service") operated by Tax Room (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us", "Tax Room"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. The Service
The Service converts South African bank statement PDFs into spreadsheet exports for accounting purposes. Parsing and extraction run primarily in your browser.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or have authority to bind the organisation on whose behalf you use the Service.
3. Account & credentials
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
4. Acceptable use
You must not: (a) use the Service unlawfully or to process documents you have no right to process; (b) reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service; (c) attempt to gain unauthorised access; (d) upload malware or use the Service to commit fraud.
5. Intellectual property
The Service, including all software, branding and documentation, is and remains the property of Tax Room. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service within your plan.
6. Service availability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that extraction results will be free of mistakes. You remain responsible for reviewing exported data before relying on it.
7. Payments, billing and refunds
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellations and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. Our Refund Policy applies to all purchases.
8. Subscriptions
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You may cancel at any time via the customer portal provided by Paddle. On cancellation you retain access to paid features until the end of your current paid period, after which your account reverts to the Free tier.
9. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these Terms, non-payment, suspected fraud or security risk, or repeated policy violations.
10. Warranties & liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Our aggregate liability in any 12-month period will not exceed the fees you paid in that period. We exclude liability for indirect, consequential, special or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data or goodwill. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence where such limitation is prohibited by law.
11. User content & data
You grant us a limited licence to process the statements you submit solely for the purpose of providing the Service. You retain ownership of your data.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of South African courts.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
